Polkadot Patch Baby Boutique: Great baby gifts and more

We have been working, working, working and making some GREAT progress! We got some great plans for expansion and I’m just thrilled to death about it. Of course adding anything else to an already full to-do list is a bit crazy right now, but what woman do you know who can’t simulataneously juggle …everything? Right??

One thing we are planning to do is update our homepage. We have found that our navigation is getting a tad crowded and we will debut a new look for our baby boutique in the next few days. Hopefully if everything goes right (keep fingers and toes crossed here) we will have it live by the end of the week.

In the meantime, we’ve just been having such great response to our children’s backpacks. It definitely is back to school time for sure. Orders are shipping quickly to get the kiddos geared up for school. It’s hard to believe that in parts of the country some kids actually start school next Monday! WOW…we still have over a month before my daughter returns to school. Which has its plusses and minuses. But the weather is great and we are loving every moment of summer!

Gotta love productive meetings. Today I had not one, but two! It’s so great to have contacts and support who just *spark* ideas and get your creative juices flowing! We also were able to meet a great new vendor who will be joining our team hopefully in the next few months. I just love meeting talented people who can create beautiful baby clothing and gifts. I sure wish I could sew, but alas…I’ve tried so many times over the years that I have finally accepted that I need to leave the stitching to those who are experts.

Ahhh…if only there could be more time in the day. Running a business, running a household, and simply running for exercise can all be hard to balance sometimes. Good thing I am able to multi-task. Now….if I can only remember which brand of baby clothing we need to add to our store next!

One of my favorite gifts for a new parent is a personalized item with their baby’s name. And this little personalized baby blanket is just the cutest one ever. Yes, it has the pink for a little girl, but it’s pink with POW! I love the color combination of hot pink and turquoise blue almost as much as I love hot pink and orange! The soft minky chenille will also make it baby’s favorite blanket because it is just so soft to touch and rub on her little cheek. This is absolutely my FAVORITE outfit for fall this year. Of course, we are just starting to get in our fall items, but I think it will be hard to beat this one. We love Anita G Girlfriends clothes. They are bright, funky, and always classic styles. The cotton is fabulous and they wash well. I have found with my kiddos they run a little small, but I throw everything into the wash and dry things to death. So it’s probably my own fault!

Although we hate to brag, we do think we  have added some of the best & greatest children’s backpacks for back to school. We absolutely love these new printed backpacks, especially the creepy crawlers backpack and the astronaut backpack. I remember seeing a little girl with the creepy crawler backpack and I thought that was the cutest thing. Especially since it was a little girl who was carrying it. Talk about bending some stereotypes. In fact, I think I might just have to get one for my daughter for preschool.

At any rate, all of our back to school items are arriving daily. Boy, do we have some great fall clothes and gifts for babies and kids. I can’t wait to debut one of our new brands that is an amazing price for three piece sets (including tights or socks).

This is such an amazing owl backpack. This backpack is hand knit by a woman in Africa. We love that we can support a company that supports women at a fair, living wage.

The backpack isn’t really practical for really carrying much but definitely one of those backpacks that a child will just fall in love with. My kiddos begged me to have one when they saw it in person. My older child readily admitted that it wouldn’t hold much but she desperately wanted it! For school it isn’t going to work, but for kids who just love to look fashionable and carry little things, it’s a go!

After speaking to a customer today, we realized in just a few short weeks some schools will be back in session. It’s hard to believe! Here in VT we are only 1/2 way through our summer and can’t imagine going back to school until after Labor Day. Of course, some schools are going back earlier with the amount of snow days that occurred last year. Some of the schools went until the third week of June!

After a great vacation, there is nothing like sleeping in your own bed. Ahhh…

And today, it was bck to work again. Just getting back to the swing of things but today was a great day when we got to open up boxes of reordered items! We have just received in a new shipment of our adorable baby girls clothes from Baby Lulu. SOO cute. We even are going to introduce a few more NEW styles that are even more cute than these we already have! Just you wait!

We also had our small knit toys featured in Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine. They featured our koala bear mom and baby and kangaroo mom and baby toys. We have restocked these and the other small knit toys because they have been so popular! We even took it a step further and added these toys to our weekly sale this week. Here it is only the seoncd week of July and alredy it’s time to begin to think about back to school. We just are finishing up a family vacation and planning to enjoy the rest of our summer with the kiddos, but before you know it, it’ll be time for school. I remember summer lasting forever as a kid, but not so much any more. So  guess it’s time to begin to think about all those school supplies like children’s backpacks and back to school outfits.
