Polkadot Patch Baby Boutique: Great baby gifts and more

Ahhh…finally it’s beginning to feel like spring in Vermont. Actually we are in the beginning of our 5th season: mud season. On some roads the mud is thick and slippery like ice and we are moving from snow gear to rain gear. Kids (and adults too) have on their rainboots to muck around. It’s dirty and a pain, but it’s a sure sign of spring here in Vermont along with the robins and patches of ground (not grass yet but at least it’s not snow!) For children’s rainboots, we love the fun, childlike designs of Western Chief Kids and now one of our favorites, Cocobonbons has introduced raingear. So whether your kids want to jump puddles as a dinosaur, frog, or strawberry, our expanding line of raingear for kids will keep em’ happy.

Now if only the adult rainboots were as fun. Our basic choice for mud season seems to be plain ole black or green boots. How boring!

If there is one type of baby outfit that we love here at Polkadot Patch is the baby onesie. These little oufits are a staple for every newborn and infant’s wardrobe. From funky and hip designs to organic choices, baby onesies have come a long way. Remember when the classic baby onesie (or as some call bodysuits) were once solid colors and usually white, pink, yellow, or pale blue? I think with our first child that is what they basically were but perhaps a few more were a bit more creative. Now you can find baby onesies that can represent any facet of life you want: punk, traditional, new age, goth, simplistic, modern, hip, retro, or plain–there is always a store catering to whatever fashion definition you want.

There are some brands that know how to do a mod and funky look and then there is Marimekko. These mod marimekko girls clothes are so hip and fun. We love this turquoise blue and citron green color combination. These gorgeous Finnish girls clothes are known for the classic styles with bold, bright fabrics and prints. This dress is a favorite dress for little girls and we love how how Marimekko designs products that both children and adults will love. Gotta tell you…the summer items are already moving in the store. We are completely sold out of one new baby bubble and many girls dresses unfortunately we can’t order more! That stinks! If only we knew how popular they were going to be. Sometimes we are able to reorder more of a children’s clothing brand and other times we cannot. So frustrating! So it’s only March and already we are short one item for baby girls. Not the best of planning I guess. But a lesson learned.

But fortunately we are getting in more shipments and we will have more fun clothes to replace the sold out ones. We have more coming from one of our most popular designer brands, Me Too.

Our children’s clothing selection is growing which is very nice to report. We have more little girls clothes in sizes up to 6X and little boys clothes are still up to toddler. We hope to expand both the boys section and our gift section in the months to come.

Now if we could have found baby girl clothes like these from Beary Basics when we were having children, the concept of Polkadot Patch Boutique probably wouldn’t have evolved. These adorable clothes are antithesis of the traditional baby girl pink. Bright, bold colors with classic, simple styles will make baby stand out! There is definitely something to be said for having multiple children! A friend of mine recently announced she is having twins and while she’s thrilled to death, she’s also nervous, excited, and overwhelmed. I can’t imagine how much work that two babies creates…one baby does just fine in that department! And imagine as they grow the amount of food, clothes, and help she’ll need. I don’t know anyone who has twins that isn’t a little bit crazy! Then again, I don’t know many parents who aren’t just a tad crazy regardless of the number of children.

In our store, we do carry twin baby gifts that are different than most. Yes, we do have a few pink/blue items, but most of our twin gifts are funky and fun. I told my friend to check out the site, and as my gift to her, I’m sending along the 1 of 2/2 of 2 shirt sets. She thought it was hilarious and imagined her babies wearing these into adulthood. Gotta laugh when you can!

Now…gotta get wrapping so she can keep laughing through her pregnancy!
