Polkadot Patch Baby Boutique: Great baby gifts and more

When it comes to finding unisex baby clothing that is unique and fun, we definitely have favorites. One of our new found favorite lines is EIEIO baby. This line is perfect for babies: childlike characters, simple lines, easy to dress baby, and cute as can be. These items are affordable and with matching booties, it’s easy to create an entire outfit that matches AND is cute for baby.

Many of the characters are unisex like the lamb, cow, and duck. Personally I would even put the horse on my little girl too. It seems like it is acceptible to put blue on a baby girl more than a baby boy can wear pink…so I guess the pink bunny is the only character that really isn’t unisex.

One of the reasons we originally created Polkadot Patch Boutique was to showcase unisex baby gifts that were beyond yellow and green. I admit, sometimes it’s really hard to find them, but we aim to bring the colors of the rainbow to babies everywhere!

In case you didn’t see this recent post on Goody Blog, our President Not Princess shirt is really getting people talking. Especially mothers of little girls…they love this shirt. What I loved about this recent Goody Blog post was the article link to NY Times article by Peggy Orenstein.

This article completely captures the underlying reasons that Polkadot Patch Boutique was created. Read it. As a mother of daughters is was one of the best parenting articles I’ve ever read that supports my disdain of all things pastel pink and princess. This article and blog post encourages us to continue selling baby clothes and gifts that go beyond stereotypical pinks and blues.

Our children’s clothes store prides itself on finding the most colorful, funky, and always non-stereotypical clothes for both girls and boys. It’s often very hard to do…manufacturers just keep on producing the princess and truck clothes and they keep telling us that those are what sell. BUT…we are committed to our store’s philosophy that is why we search high and low to find items that are somehow different, or unusual colors for each of the sexes. Usually that means going agaist the grain, but we know there are LOTS of parents and gift givers that will agree with Peggy Orenstein…we DEFINTITELY do!

So perfect for an election year too…

Ok. How can you not get involved in the whole “green” craze that’s hitting everywhere? Not only is it the RIGHT thing to do, but hopefully it will help preserve our Earth for our children and the generations to come. Here at Polkadot Patch Boutique, we are making efforts to become more socially responsible and also are working to support industries that not only make adorable baby clothes, but also create their designs with organic materials.

I love it when we have the opportunity to meet new vendors and catch up with old favorites. Recently we were able to touch base with one of our long time favorites, Sozo baby clothes and we are excited about the new items they are introducing. These clothes are consistently one of our most popular brands for unisex baby clothes because so many of the designs look great on both baby girls and baby boys. One of my personal favorites is this adorable chicken onesie. Now how many times do you see cute chickens and babies together? Not often…but Sozo, this outfit will just get every adult who sees baby clucking like a mother hen. Yes…corny, but true!

You have GOT to see these adorable unisex baby clothes that just came in. These are just the cutest pieces ever. They are so fun and have childlike characters that are just perfect for infants. We decided to get all the characters: cow, lamb, duck, horse, and bunny. What I love about these items is the attention to detail. They have texture on the items whether it’s the little booties or the onesies. The lamb has a curly fleece texture and the duck has velvety soft fleece. These are so affordable and will make memborable baby gifts for any new parent.

Another thing I love is that all the characters, except for the pink bunny, can be unisex. That’s pretty hard to find with baby clothes nowadays. Everything is so pink and blue and it’s always a challenge to find items that are beyond the pink and blue. So even the blue horse and light blue lamb would easily work for a girl…at least I think so and other Moms/Dads/Grandparents I’ve spoken with agree.

So the groundhog did see his shadow yesterday and you know what that means! More snow, more cold, more fleece and more winter clothes. Just when we think spring might want to visit us here in cold Vermont, we get a furry reminder that it will be around 6 weeks (and most likely longer…) I was ready to pack away the hats and mittens if that little critter hadn’t seen it’s shadow. Well, maybe that’s wishful thinking here in the Green Mountain state, but we can dream of something other than snow…can’t we?

On the flipside, we are in the process of clearing out our winter baby clothes and unpacking boxes (almost daily) of our new spring outfits coming in the door. We have some great new styles coming in from Me Too, Claesens, and more. Gotta say, Me Too this season is just to die for cute!
