Polkadot Patch Baby Boutique: Great baby gifts and more

We have received our first My Vintage Baby outfit and we just love it! This set is so unique and funky that we know it’ll be a great hit! This set features red plaid with a center “rope” dog with moving arms & legs. We call it the Unique Unisex Red Plaid Infant Dog Pant Set because we think it could easily work for a boy or girl. With such a fun design, we are hoping My Vintage Baby becomes one of our new favorites! And we can’t wait for our next shipment to arrive!

So this was a new experience for us. We received an order yesterday from one of our vendors (who will remain nameless!) and we received the wrong clothes. It’s an easy fix, but still it is still a hassle that we were hoping we wouldn’t have to deal with. Of course we knew realistically we would, but that’s just how it goes in retail!

On a brighter note, we have listed a number of new arrivals in the past few days. This includes Sozo baby bedding, Spunky Sprout organic infant clothes, and coco bonbons unique children’s clothes. We just love all of them and feel they are great additions to our store. So when you get a chance, take a peek!

We are so excited to have Coco Bonbons high quality and unique children’s coats and matching pants, hats and mittens.  (And don’t forget the girls lollipop cape and coordinating skirt!) on our site.  When we first saw these a few months ago, we knew that they were perfect for our site - colorful, high quality, unique, whimsical, childlike…need I say more.   Working with Coco Bonbons has been so terrific, that we were able to set up pre-orders for our customers who want to make sure that their little one will have these as soon as they are available. And of course, these are a perfect match for why you should shop here!

As we are getting ready for our fall inventory to arrive, we are experimenting with our new weekly sale. Every Weds. we are choosing one line of clothing to discount for a week. So far, it’s off to a slow start, but we feel this is a great addition to our site. We are considering starting a daily sale come Sept. and hope that will be as fun too! Right now we have Cheshire Cat Clothing on our weekly sale. This clothing line is from the original owner and designer of the children’s boutique brand, Cow & Lizard. When comparing the two lines, you can definitely see similarities in the styles and prints. It’s like Oililiy and Room Seven in a way! My favorite outfit from Cheshire Cat is the girls aqua tank palazzo capri set. It’s a fabulous color and the material is this wonderful, light gauze-like material that would be so cool to wear. And…of course I just love the unique butterflies all over!

Even though I had work to do, housecleaning to do, and everything else in between…we spent most of the day enjoying our time at Lake Groton in central Vermont. While I watched my kiddos play in the sand and water, I thought about how much I love what is happening with Polkadot Patch Boutique. We love how our store is growing and the incredible feedback we get from everyone who stops in! It’s been such a huge amount of brainwork, but at the same time, it’s been so fun and enjoyable.

One of our favorite baby clothing brands is Lil’ Jellybean. We love this brand for a number of reasons.

First, it’s just simply cute, childlike clothing for babies and toddlers. This clothing is always creative, colorful, and kids just love it. Sometimes it’s the adorable animals and other times it’s the unique fabrics and materials that make these clothes fun. For example, on this little boys ocean shorts set, we love how the octopus has on an actual scuba mask that appears to be like glass. It is a great color blue with bright accents and everytime we see it, we just think, “Now THAT is cute!”

The second reason we love Lil’ Jellybean clothing for children is the pricing! Talk about an affordable line of fun children’s clothing. Very often a three piece outfit is under $20! Very often the girls and boys outfits come with matching hats, pocketbooks, or jackets.

Now that combination of colorful, boutique clothing at inexpensive prices is really hard to find! For those reasons, Lil’ Jellybean clothing has become one of the Patch’s favorites!

Yesterday we had the chance to meet with two new Vermont artists who make wonderful children’s products. One woman makes colorful and fun children’s clothes with vivid prints in classic, simple styles. These would make a perfect gift for the person who wants unique baby clothes that are handcrafted. We hope to start to list these in the next few months after the artist creates her designs.

In addition, we met with a woman who knits the most wonderful children’s hats. Here in Vermont, they would be perfect for winter! They are so well made and colorful and fun we can’t wait to get one on our own children’s heads!

 We are always looking for new, innovative products. If anyone can recommend any unique baby and children’s clothes, gifts, or accessories, just let us know! As long as they match our Polkadot Patch Boutique philosophy, we’d be interested!

I think it’s time to revisit our mission for children’s clothes. Here at Polkadot Patch Boutique we have made it our mission to make sure that children’s clothing is:

1. Unique, colorful, whimsical, creative, imaginative, high quality and fun!
   That summarizes our view of childhood as well. Shouldn’t children’s clothing reflect their world?
2. Support local Vermont artisans by providing an online shopping presence to market their exceptional products.
3. HAVE FUN! As Ben & Jerry’s say…”If it’s not fun…why do it?”

We just received three more wonderful colorful bears from Bears & Things. These bears are the most wonderful, handcrafted teddy’s that would make a great unique baby gift! We now have a solid yellow bear, solid blue bear, and the most funky, multicolored bear. These are just perfect, so well constructed and the highest of quality.

 In addition, we have started to receive our fall lines of designer baby clothes. The newest arrival are two colorful, beaded dresses from Michael Simon Girl. One dress is the most precious pink kitty cat dress and the other is a long sleeved Russian inspired folk dress. Both are everything wonderful about Michael Simon Girl in bold colors, incredible beading and embellishments, and fun, childlike themes. SO fun for a little girl!

It’s summer and of course that means it’s time to start marking down summer clothes. Even as a retailer I just hate how short summer can be. It seems like we were just putting on our spring and summer clothes and now we have our fall inventory starting to arrive! Here in Vermont, I am waiting for the rain to stop so we can begin to wear our shorts and tees, and here we are beginning to discount our clothes. It’s bizarre if you ask me!

 So we’ve gone ahead and discounted a significant amount of clothing from Cow & Lizard, Michael Simon Girl, Chicken Noodle, Flap Happy, and Lil’ Jellybean.
