So even though our website designer has yet to finish our design (I won’t even get started with that frustration beyond frustration), we decided to publish our behind the scenes website. Polkadot Patch Boutique is now officially a website. BUT…it has a long way to go until we are really ready to advertise it as such. We have wonderful colorful children’s clothes but our site is rather drab and unimpressive right now. We are anxiously awaiting our designer to get our site done so we can drop on the “fun and colorful” look to our website.

We did have our first purchase and that was oh-so-very-exciting! It was a friend of ours, but nevertheless, it made Polkadot Patch become even more real. We were able to work out some glitches and realize there are still more to go, but we were thrilled to mail out our first “patch-age” from the Patch!

Our designer has given us May 7th as the deadline to have it up and running the way we expect. It will be over a month overdue. That’s frustrating because we are so close, but we will be stocking up on funky girls clothes, gender neutral baby clothes, and colorful boys clothes in the meantime!

So even though our website isn’t totally where we wish it would be…we are working daily on making it be everything we know it will be!

Polkadot Patch Boutique is the vision of two moms who love children, shopping, and being online! With seven children between us, we know children’s clothes. When Marianne’s first child was born, she didn’t know the sex of the baby and searched high and low for gender neutral clothing that was beyond pastel yellow and green. She wanted bright reds, oranges, blues, greens, pinks, purples, and more. It was so very hard to find clothes that didn’t begin to stereotype her baby immediately. It was frustrating finding these clothes and after her daughter was born, much to Marianne’s chagrin, the closet became full of pink, princesses, frilly clothing (thanks to gifts and Marianne’s lack of time to shop!), and the colorful bright clothes remained a challenge to find.

Co-owner Erica, was facing similiar challenges with children’s clothes. The deciding factor with her was the lack of fun, unique boys clothing for her first boy after numerous girls! While she had more success finding colorful and fun girl’s clothing, she was dismayed at the images and appearance of little boy’s clothing. She found mostly superhereos, military themes, or just-like-daddy clothes…where were the cute, fun boys clothes?

So…these two moms knew they had to open a store to sell the kinds of children’s clothes that they wanted. After searching high and low, they have selected on the most colorful, fun, funky, and childlike children’s clothing to feature on Polkadot Patch Boutique.

In addition, being in Vermont and having a passion for art, both Marianne and Erica wanted to support, promote, and sell Vermont made children’s products. So, in their store you will find what they hope to be the largest selection of VT children’s products online–but only those that are fun, colorful, and represent the “spirit of childhood“!

We have most everything on our new store ready to go! Polkadot Patch Boutique has been uploading pictures, inventory, and our policies so that as soon as our website designer is finished…we’ll be online! We’re so excited to have our store online because this is a niche SOOOO needing to be filled. We believe every child loves color…the more colorful, unique, and fun it it…the more children love it. And if it is a children’s clothing, gifts, or accessories…we hope to have it in our store.

This list will let our preferred customers know of our opening and offer special promotional discounts. We will never overdo the emails…we HATE that and know you do too. Polkadot Patch Boutique intends to only send pertinent information and notifications of discounts/sales/specials one or two times a month. Now that’s not too bad!

We are working what feels like day and night to get Polkadot Patch Boutique up and running! We are getting all the kinks worked out with our website, uploading inventory, and anxiously awaiting our first day!

We are still on the search every day for colorful boutique children’s clothes which are unique, fun, and creative. We’ve seen so many wonderful styles out there and Polkadot Patch Boutique will feature the best of the best.

As parents with 7 children between us, we know children’s clothes and we know that there is a need for a store which has clothing that not only parents love, but children do as well. Children love colors and love creating with color….shouldn’t their clothing reflect who they are? We think so.
