Sock monkey dolls are getting to be hip and popular again! Don’t you love how trends cycle back through? I remember these dolls when I was a child and knew people who would make these from the red heeled socks. Now in our store we have sock monkeys on shirts, hats, burp clothes, blankets, but nothing is more popular than the original sock monkey dolls.

We were thrilled to find these handmade sock monkey dolls. In three different styles, there surley is one that a child would love. Even though I’m not much into girly girl things, I have to admit the sock monkey ballerina doll gives me a chuckle every time I see her. I think it’s the idea of a monkey in a tutu. At any rate, these sock monkey dolls are expertly handcrafted and made from the original red-heeled socks. I can’t wait until we have other sock monkey animals too….

Items like these make us proud here at the Patch. Not only are they handcrafted (which we love to support), but they are made here in the USA. We are big supporters of the arts, especially artisans who create products for children. And what child wouldn’t just love to play with this guy?

You have got to see these new handcrafted baby blanket sets we’ve just received in. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen a more perfect baby gift. Parents will appreciate the blanket right away for keeping baby warm and then in about 6 or 7 months, baby will love the doll he/she can hold and play with!

These baby blankets are the most plush fleece I’ve ever felt. Not just soft, but melt in your fingers soft. If I could have a blanket like this in my king size bed…I’d do it! The cotton prints are the kinds that are so rare on baby blankets and the kind that baby will actually take notice of.

But, I have to admit, it’s the matching soft doll that makes this set complete. Crafted in the same cotton print, these dolls are just so sweet. With yarn hair, embroidered eyes and rounded hands/feet…these dolls will be the one baby wants to cuddle and treasure. And I love that there is actually a boy doll too…how often is that done? They are even different ethnicities too if you really want to be accurate. But I can say from my own children who saw these when they came in…it didn’t matter if it was a boy or girl doll or what color the skin or blanket print…they wanted one. Badly!

Ahhh….spring is finally in the air. I realize in parts of the country it is now becoming summer weather, but here in Vermont, flowers ARE starting to sprout. After a long winter (and it DID feel especially long this year), spring is such a welcomed friend. The snow is melting, robins are celebrating everywhere and soon green grass and crawling bugs will be a-plenty. Speaking of bugs, you have to take a look at this adorable organic little boys bugs outfit.This outfit is not only 100% organic and so much more fun than the drab “natural” colored organic clothes, but it is FUN! In case you didn’t know, April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Because we feel so strongly in the care and protection of all children, Polkadot Patch Boutique is proud to donate a percentage of all profits to Prevent Child Abuse Vermont. PCVT is an amazing organization dedicated to their motto “It shoudn’t hurt to be a child”. Through workshops, parent educaction, and an active influence in the state of Vermont, PCVT has numerous programs that improve and touch the lives of many children.

We just wanted to thank PCVT for all they do to support parents, care for children, and work to create a state (and greater world) that is free of all forms of child abuse.

We are getting in even more cute baby clothes that we just love. One new favorite, is Glug Baby. Talk about adorable and cute. I personally love the monkey shirt, but my daughter is in love with the panda bear. Here are the three shirts–the monkey, panda, and zebra. Now what little boy or girl wouldn’t just fall in love with these animal shirts? What we love about them here at the Patch is they are totally unisex. Hard to find for children’s clothes, but every now and then we come across a great line of shirts that work.

It’s April Fools Day. You know what that means. Tricks and jokes and silly happenings by the young and young at heart. If my daughter hadn’t been such a grump this morning I had some tricks to play that would have made her laugh. Well…maybe later.

So here in VT we’ve seen some robins, the sap is a-running, and we are holding our breath that spring is on its way. It’s a beautiful place to live but sometimes the winters can be a tad bit too long (note a little bit of sarcasm–they always seem long.) I can’t wait to break out the short sleeve shirts and shorts and put away the winter fleece and wool hats for a while. They never get completely stored away, but long enough to get a break.
